Clinton Lake

Our first stop is my new favorite, Clinton Lake is part of the Corps of Engineers which I cannot say enough about. They maintain their waterways and beaches so well. The swimming beach is where we always go. It is located in Bloomington Park. For a low $1 fee per person or $4 fee per car load you can swim all day. They provide showers, restrooms, a playground for the kids and life jackets. The beach is clean and the people are friendly. The water is zoned so that you are protected from boaters.

That's right they also have boating and camping. A good time for all. Down the street there is also a small, old feeling general store, that is very convenant to grab a drink or snacks. I provided a map because it is a little hard to find. The drive is really nice and relaxing though.

  1. I'd never heard of this place before! I'll have to check it out sometime. Thanks for including the available activities, as well as prices!

  2. This is the place I go most often. There are always people around so I feel safe and the drive out is pretty. It is also close to Lawrence and you can see KU from the beach on the other side of lake. Which is kinda cool.

  3. I have never been to Clinton Lake, but I have heard many great things about it. Although you don't necessarily need a boat to go to the lake, I wish I had one and I'd visit here a lot.

  4. I wish I had a boat too! It is on the list for sure but maybe I will try to get a jet ski first and see how we do.
